Poland to Help Georgia to Modernize Armament and Warlike Equipment
The Minister of Defense Bogdan Klich arrived in Georgia within the framework of the visit to Transcaucasia. Today in Tbilisi at the meeting with the Defence Minister of Georgia Bacho Akhalaia he said that Poland will help the armed forces of Georgia to more “actively” modernize its armament and will take part in its military personnel training.
In his turn, Akhalaia expressed his hope that his Polish colleagues will help Georgia to accelerate the process of integration with NATO.
This is the first visit of the Defence Minister of Poland to the region he had called before the trip a “key one not only for Eastern, but also for Central Europe.” Klich said: “Transcaucasia can be either a source of conflicts and crises, or a region of stabilization.”
Earlier Alexander Shliakhturov, chief of Russia's military intelligence told about the facts of military assistance to Georgia by NATO countries, Ukraine and Israel. Particularly, NATO countries supply small arms and equipment, the USA train the army manpower, Israel sells pilotless vehicles, and Ukraine – tanks and antiaircraft defenses, the chief of military intelligence reported. 2009-11-27 14:01
