Georgian Authorities Devised a New Way of Election Fraud
In preparation for the May elections of the mayor of Tbilisi, the authorities have devised a new way of rigging the elections.
The ruling National Movement, using the services of the local Ministry of Internal Affairs, started to register inhabitants of regions in the more opposition-minded Tbilisi.
In every district from 70 to 100 inhabitants of regions are registered, paid therefor a fee of 80 Lari (about 48 dollars).
It is worth noting that at last year's elections to the Parliament Georgian authorities resorted to such innovation: they demanded from the relatives of prisoners to provide a certain number of votes in favor of the ruling party, and for that the prisoners could count on the indulgence. 2009-12-08 17:13
